Gordon Russell Meyer, 81, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Ottawa, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the Tidewell Hospice House in Sarasota. Gordon was born on August 14, 1940, in Oak Park, IL to Russell and Phyllis (Harsh) Meyer.
He was a graduate of Ottawa High School and received his undergraduate from North Central College. Gordon married Nancy Copeland on October 15, 1966, at the First United Methodist Church, in Ottawa. He was a civil engineer with the Illinois Highway Department for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Meyer of Sarasota, FL and Ottawa, IL; a son, Craig (Steven Mayo) Meyer of Winterpark, FL; a son-in-law, Chad (Jenny) Peruba of Geneva, IL; two grandchildren, Emily (Joshua) Poythress of Chicago and Matthew Peruba of Chicago; and a brother, Gilbert (Marcia) Meyer of Deer Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Gail Peruba.
