Gordon (Mac) MacIver, 94, passed away peacefully at his home in Duxbury on May 15th, 2019 where he and his late wife, Ellie MacIver resided for over 50 years. Gordon served in World War II in the United States Navy, first as a Signalman aboard the Destroyer Escort USS Major DE-796 in the South Pacific and later as a Quartermaster First Class and was honorably discharged in 1949. Gordon was also a member of the American Legion Fogg-Roberts Post #78 in Boston.Gordon worked briefly for Factory Mutual Insurance Company before working for 25 years at Loyal Protective Life Insurance Company in Kenmore Square, Boston as an executive to the Vice President until 1979. Gordon then worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Disability Determination Services as an alternate supervisor, with a distinguished career in public service until his retirement in 1989.During his early years in Duxbury, Gordon was a Boy Scout Master for Troop 52 – teaching survival skills and organizing camping & hiking trips at both the Duxbury Town Forest & at Camp Squanto in the Plymouth State Gordon retired from State service, he also worked at Bayside Marine and volunteered at the Duxbury Free Library. His passion was sailing and he spent many years sailing his 14 foot West Wight Potter, the Glass Slipper in Duxbury Bay, often accompanied by his children.Gordon is survived by his daughter, Linda Elizabeth Boisvert from Duxbury and Franklin, MA and his son, William Gordon MacIver from Duxbury and Hyde Park, MA.Services for Mr.
