Glover Dan Boswell began his earthly journey in Coweta County and was born at his parent’s home on August 23, 1931. His parents were the late Belvin Walker and Loma Taylor Boswell. Legend has it that nobody really knew his real name because a mix-up by the doctor recording his birth. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his wife of 62 years, Betty Ann Boswell. His stepfather was George McGhee. He was also predeceased by his siblings Lester Boswell, Thurston McGhee and Shelby Olmstead. A grandchild, Stephen Webb, also preceded him. As a young man, Dan was an enthusiastic supporter of the minor league ball team that Newnan sponsored. Most of these teams appeared in the 1920’s and were active until the early 1950’s. He played in a league that originated in the McIntosh area of western Newnan. Throughout his life he kept his interest in sports and enthusiastically followed Georgia Tech football. Most of Dan’s professional life was spent in management positions in retail grocery stores in Newnan. He was a faithful member of Westside Baptist Church. Dan is survived by his wife Sarah Henderson; his children, Dennis Boswell and his wife Angie, Anthony Boswell and his wife Debbie, Deborah Boswell Hamilton and her husband Scott. His grandchildren are Jonathan, Lori, Stephen, Matthew, Kristen and Elizabeth. There are six great grandchildren. Also surviving is his twin sister, Ann Boswell Teate and a brother, Belvin Boswell.
