Krenz, Gloria M.

(Marsac) (LaRocque)

Bay City, Michigan

Mrs. Krenz passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Sheffield Bay Assisted Living with her family by her side. Age 92 years. The daughter of the late Stanley and Julia (Kaydan) Marsac was born November 18, 1927 in Bay City, Michigan. Mrs. Krenz possessed an eighth grade education and enjoyed “stage life” at the Roxy Theater dancing and singing until she became a waitress at the Wenona Hotel. This is where she met her first husband, Eugene LaRocque and at the age of 22 delivered her first daughter, Sherry, followed by Denise, whom preceded her in death. Gloria was a woman of many talents, including making Christmas ornaments for her children to sell. She was a great cook, baker (which included wedding cakes), 4H leader in sewing, machine knitter of clothing/personalized Christmas stockings, organ player/singer, designer of coloring books for missionary groups, golfer and bowler. Following her “Christian beliefs” she often browsed yard sales or located store sales to donate all of her items to missionary groups, the women’s shelter or the Boys and Girls Club. The best job she ever held she said was as the manager’s assistant when Bay Lanes opened – decorating, managing the front counter, and organizing the bowling tournaments.

Gloria was given a diagnosis of vascular dementia in her 70’s after the death of her second husband, Edward Krenz. Her life changed requiring the use of an in home caretaker to placement at Shattuck Manor, Wescourt, Barton Woods and Sheffield Bay (where she continued to entertain the residents until she could no longer walk at the age of 89) The family wishes to thank all of the daily caregivers who assisted in these facilities, as well as American’s Hospice Care staff of Saginaw. Gloria’s legacy continues in her family.
