Gloria Ann Kriewall, 85, of Saginaw, Michigan was carried to her home in heaven on April 9, 2020 after a long illness.

Gloria was born on February 16, 1935, to Earl and Anna (Duley) Leavens of Bay City.  She was baptized into the Christian faith at Westminster Presbyterian Church.  After graduation from T.L. Handy High School, Gloria attended Michigan State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1956.

On June 28, 1957, Gloria married her high school sweetheart Royce Kriewall, also of Bay City.  While Royce was deployed with the United States Navy over a 26-year period, Gloria spent her days teaching and volunteering in a variety of ways.  During that time, Royce and Gloria adopted four children.  Gloria’s life centered on raising her children in the Lutheran faith that was central to who she was.

In 1978, Gloria earned a Masters’ degree from San Jose State University in Library Science.  She was a research librarian in the Chemistry Library at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and later was the library director at Delta College, University Center, near Saginaw, Michigan.

After retirement, Royce and Gloria settled in Freeland, later moving to Saginaw.  Gloria was an integral part of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bay City, having returned to the same church where she was confirmed and married.  She loved to play in the bell choir, read, work crossword puzzles, and stayed in regular communication with friends and family throughout the United States.  She and Royce were blessed with the opportunity to travel together, making lasting memories along the way.

Gloria is survived by her husband Royce Kriewall, of Saginaw; her children Earl (Karla) Kriewall of Arlington, TX; Tami Reid of Madison, WI; Tracey (Steve) Bunde of Westland, MI; and Paul (Nichole) Kriewall of Gilbert, AZ; two sisters – Joanne Genaw of Crossville, TN and Arlene (Peter) Frick of Scottsdale, AZ, and one brother – Peter (Susan) Leavens of Wewahitchka, FL.  She was also blessed with nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
