Glenford A. Niles was born on January 29, 1944, in Colon, Panama to his parents, Elena Enid Daniel and Rudolph Niles. He was the second of five children. He grew up in Panama City, Panama where he attended and graduated from Thomas Alda Edison Trade School. In 1972, Glenford began working for the Canal Zone Mental Health Center as a nursing assistant. He then was transferred to the Gorgas Army Hospital, where he worked as a medical clerk.
