Glen J. “JEEP” Welton, 77, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Miller’s Merry Manor, New Carlisle. He was born on August 19, 1944, in Shelbyville, IL, to the late Glen C. and Vera Maureen (Hanson) Welton. On October 25, 1966, he married Elizabeth Ann Barnes, who preceded him in death on July 20, 2000. He is survived by his children, Todd (Michelle) Welton of Union Mills, IN, Kevin Vance (Geri Lynn) Welton of Hudson Lake, James Dale (Lisa) Welton of Knox, IN and Anita (Patrick Hall) Anderson of New Carlisle; 10 grandchildren: Katie Anderson, Dustin (Alyssa) Welton, Kevin Welton, Liam Welton, Beth (Issac) Pierucki, Sarah (Kyle Pohl) Welton, Isabella Hall, Nicholas Poffenberger, Journey Poffenberger and Krissi Johnson; 5 great-grandchildren; Bryker Poffenberger, Piper Poffenberger, Stetson Welton, Barrett Welton and Eli Pierucki; nine siblings: Harold (Jeanna) Welton, Dwight Welton, Glen Charles (Wilma) Welton, Shirley (Donald) Smith, Edna Smith, Retha (Roger) Orr, Jeanette Welton, Alice Workman and Julie Welton; and by numerous extended family residing in Shelbyville. He was preceded in death by seven siblings: Jack Welton, Ted Welton, Donald (Curly) Welton, Tom Welton, Gerald Welton, Mark Welton, Joann (Robert) Smith and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other family members. Mr. Welton worked as an Operator at Wirecraft in Rolling Prairie, IN, for 32 years, before retiring in 1999. He enjoyed going to auctions and yard sales, fishing, small engine repair, visiting family and friends, watching eagles and spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved fried chicken and McDonald’s coffee. He was always willing to help anyone in need.
