Mrs. George was born on February 14, 1925 to Edward and Delia “Addie” Phipps in Wake County, NC.
Mrs. George was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Delia “Addie” Phipps; husband, Edward “Buck” George; brothers, William Phipps, Claiborne Phipps, Jodie Phipps, and Claude Phipps; and sister, Louise Holder. She is survived by sons, John Edward George (Mary Beth) of Durham, NC, and Don Brantley George (Beverly) of Reidsville, NC; brother, Raymond Elwood Phipps of Timberlake, NC; sister, Delia Poole of Durham, NC; grandchildren, Sarah Paynter (Andrew), Mary Nell Slaton (John), Brad George (Kelli), and Liz Morrow (Tommy); and eight great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the Grove Park Chapel church and other friends for the love and support they have shown.
Gladys was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many people.
