Gladys Mae Washington, was born on June 6th, 1934 in Cheneyville, Louisiana to the late Gertrude Johnson and James Lockwood. Gladys attended Carter C. Raymond high school class of 1952, in Lecompton, Louisiana. Gladys moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1955, where she met and married Ivory Washington and they relocated to Flagstaff, AZ in 1958.

She was a faithful member of Spring Hill Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was well known for her kind heart and beautiful smile. She worked at Red Bull restaurant for 15 years and left there to work at Miz Zips, where she was known for her fabulous cooking and baking. She retired from Miz Zips after 25 years of service.

Gladys was called home to be with the Lord on March 22, 2018 and leaves to cherish her memory: Her husband of 63 years: Ivory Washington, three daughters: Barbara Washington McCain, Diana Washington, and Eulla Lockett; two special son, Ivory James Washington and Ivory Lee Washington preceded her in death; one special son-n-law Lambert Lockett. Four sisters: Dorothy Hawkins, Cheneyville, LA, Annie Mae Green, Houston, TX, Bertha Lee Bryant, Cheneyville, LA, Josephine Berry, Lecompte, LA. Two brothers: Scott Rainey Jr., Lecompte, LA, and John Rainey preceded her in death. 16 grand-children, 32 great grand-children, 3 great great grand-children, a host of very special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
