The Serna family would like to announce the passing of Gladys Gutierrez on August 5, 2022. Gladys passed away peacefully in her sleep in Boca Raton Florida, while bravely battling cholangiocarcinoma.
Gladys was born July 6, 1954, in San Luis de Palenque (Casanare), Colombia, the eldest of seven children. She was a devout Catholic who exceled academically. From a young age, she was enthusiastically involved in every activity her school had to offer, a true social butterfly. She especially loved being a member of the of the basketball and volleyball teams. Outside of school, Gladys was an active member of her community. Gladys went on to earn a degree in economics from the Universidad La Gran Colombia.
Gladys moved to the United States with her husband and children in search of a brighter tomorrow. In the States Gladys helped her husband start and grow their company all while raising a family. Gladys’s greatest love was her family. She lived each day making sure they were always taken care of. She encouraged those around her to always strive for their best. If you were a guest in her home, you were considered family and always welcomed. Even when times would get rough, Gladys always held her head up high. Gladys shined her light to all those who were fortunate enough to be in her life.
Gladys is survived by her husband Fernando; her children, Diana (William), Ana, and Manny (Alyson); her grandchildren Daniela, Tatiana (, Alejandro, Hendrix, and her great grandson Zakai allowing her wisdom and ideologies to continue to live on. She is also survived by her siblings, nephews, and nieces in Colombia.
