WISE, Gladys East, Portage. Went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 3, 2010. She was born January 29, 1934 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Ben and Katherine East. She worked for Allied Paper, Gibson Guitar and ran a daycare in her home for many years.
She was a member of First Assembly of God for 25 years and is a current member of the Kalamazoo First Church of the Nazarene. Gladys enjoyed family sporting events, crocheting afghans and baby blankets, singing for weddings, funerals and church choirs, until asthma prevented her from singing. Her family was her pride and joy. On May 12, 1950, she married Henry E. Wise, who survives. Gladys is also survived by their children, Deb Nault and Mike Cherrie Wise; grandchildren, Michael S. Miller of Denver, CO, Jessica Amey and Christopher Massey, Michelle and Brian Wise, all of Portage; a daughter-in-law, Dona Bill Lasinski & family; brothers, Walt Marilyn East and Don Diane East; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Henry C. Wise, a grandson, Thomas Ryan Miller, a brother, Robert East and a sister Berneice Allen.
