Gioacchino “Jack” Lo Bello, 88, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2017. Jack was born in Canicatti, Sicily on March 5, 1929 to the late Stefano and Filippa Lo Bello. On February 4, 1956 he married Carmela Di Caro. They were married for 61 years and have 3 children together. He is survived by his wife, Carmelina, children, Stephen (Svetlana), Phyllis (Daniel), Frank (Grace), and Arthur (Annette); six grandchildren, Lauren Amicucci, Daniel Amicucci, Jennifer Lo Bello, Laura Lo Bello, Gabriella Lo Bello, and Stefanie Lo Bello, and numerous nieces and nephews here in New York, as well as Italy and Venezuela.
He is predeceased by his brother Calogero “Lillo”, and sisters Phyllis and Antonietta and is survived by sister, Lina and brother, Dino in Sicily. Jack owned L & T Delicatessen with his partner “Uncle Ben” Trupia on 1st Avenue in Manhattan for 30 years where he delighted many patrons with his hospitality and delicious latticini. He loved to travel, but most enjoyed his yearly trips with his wife and sister-in-law Marie, to Hollywood Florida, where he visited friends and family.
He also delighted in going to his country house in Ellenville, NY with family and friends to hunt deer and small game, as well as just relax and enjoy the serenity. But nothing made him happier than being around his six grandchildren. They were the light of his life, and theirs his.
