Gilbert S. Trujillo, 91, of Lochbuie, Colorado, died on May 25, 2012 in Brighton. Mr. Trujillo was born on April 22, 1921 in Bueyeros, New Mexico to Merejildo and Apolonia (Vigil) Trujillo. He graduated high school in Clayton, New Mexico. Gilbert married Juanita M. Rivera on March 6, 1944 in Clayton, New Mexico.
Mr. Trujillo lived in Lochbuie, Colorado since 1962. He worked as a baker for Baker’s Confectionary Union, Macklem Bakery, Safeway and Miller’s Bakery for 35 years, retiring in 1968.
Gilbert was a WWII veteran in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed working with his hands, building the home his family lived in. Always prompt, Gilbert enjoyed baking and made the best pies and pastries. He took pride in his appearance alway wearing one of his special hats. He enjoyed being around and praising his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gilbert was baptized a Jehovah’s Witness on October 25, 1952 and served as a ministerial servant of the Brighton Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Mr. Trujillo is survived by his wife, Juanita of Lochbuie, CO; son, Paul also of Lochbuie; daughters, Tina Canterbury and Vivian (Dean) Ruth both of Brighton, CO; brothers, Ben of Albuquerque, NM, Solomon of Denver, John of Pueblo and Steve of Lakewood; sisters, Victoria Martinez of Santa Fe, NM,, Lilly Lopez of Newbury Park, CA and Alice Rios of Abilene, TX; 4 grandchildren, Andrea Swayne, Diana Sena, Kristian Griego and Robert Canterbury; 8 great-grandchildren, Madison Swayne, Alaina Griego, Miranda Sena, Vincent Sena, Alex Garcia, Rachel Bilagody, Taura Canterbury and Ian Canterbury.
Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Merejildo and Gavino.
