Gilbert was born on January 29th, 1957, in Los Angeles, California, to Robert and Mary Lou Menchaca.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou, and his grandson Jeremiah Joshua Dutton. He is survived by his wife of seven wonderful years, Ra’chel R. Menchaca, his father Robert Menchaca, his mother-in-law Dr. Linda Cavanaugh of Indianapolis, IN, his children Sarah Anne Menchaca and Gilbert Joseph Menchaca of Los Angeles and their mother Joanne Giacopuzzi of Camarillo, CA, his bonus children Josiah and Chelsea Dutton of Bargersville, IN, Joshua and Amber Dutton of Whiteland, IN, Elijah Dutton of Indianapolis, IN, and Noah Dutton of Indianapolis, IN. He is also survived by his grandchildren Wyatt Bradley Dutton and Ashton Grey Dutton, as well as his siblings: Mike Rivera of California, Sylvia Rivera Media of California, Diane Isabel Mantelle of Ohio, Albert Menchaca of Arizona, Ronny Menchaca of Arizona, his brother-in-law Ramiah and Shanna Cavanaugh of Columbus, IN, as well as an abundance of nieces and nephews.
Gilbert, also known as “Gil” or “Gibby”, was known to be a jokester. He loved joking with his family and friends. He also loved traveling with his wife, which included visiting fourteen states and the Bahamas. He was an avid sports fan, his favorites being the Golden State Warriors, The Colts, the LA Rams, the Saints, and the LA Dodgers. He loved Jesus, his wife, and family immensely and prayed for them all daily. He loved being outdoors, including early morning and late-night fishing, referring to these times as “the best time to catch fish”. Gilbert was also an animal lover, his favorite being his Morkie named Leroy.
