Gilbert Morten MacNab, age 91 died December 28, 2021 surrounded by family at his home on Soule Avenue in on October 29, 1930 in Everett, Mass. to Doreen Morten MacNab and Donald Peter MacNab. He was brought up in Plympton and moved to Duxbury when he married his wife Roberta White MacNab. He worked at First National Stores as a butcher and later co-owned Millbrook Market. In the 50’s and 60’s Gil and Roberta performed in many American Legion shows, and in later years sang at nursing homes. He played cribbage at the Duxbury Legion and the Plympton Upland Club for many years. He volunteered at the Duxbury Legion cooking for the Memorial Day participants and serving the veterans from Brockton VA Hospital. He worked on the World War I Monument Committee and volunteered at the Senior Center. His favorite volunteer work was being the caller at Black-Tie Bingo for Duxbury Sr. Center. In 2008 both Gil and Roberta received the Presidential Lifetime of Service Award for over 4,000 hours of community service. Gil enjoyed hunting with his son at camp in Maine. And always enjoyed the company of his two daughters. Gil and Roberta were Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty in the Duxbury 4th of July parade for many years and were the Parade Marshalls with Mary Barclay in 2009. Gil was proud of his English heritage and traveled to England and Scotland to see the head of the clan, MacNab. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Roberta White MacNab, his three children, Susan MacNab and her husband Wayne Alukonis, Diane McGinn and her husband Brendan, James MacNab and his wife Amy, Four grandchildren: Sean McKenna and his wife April, Jennifer Burgess and her husband Peter, Bailey MacNab and her fiancé Josh Werk and Ainsley MacNab, 4 great grandchildren: MacKenzie, Maverick and Meadow McKenna and Baby Burgess due in February. He’s also survived by his dog Tammy, who will miss sitting on his was predeceased in death by his sisters Jeanette and Doreen and brother Donald.
