Gilbert M. Knupp, 96, Chesterfield, died September 10, 2011 at Millers Merry Manor in Chesterfield. He was born July 20, 1915 in Warren, PA, and lived in the Anderson and Noblesville areas since 1973.
Gilbert was a graduate of Warren High School in Pennsylvania. He retired from Joy Manufacturing Company in Pennsylvania and the J. Evert Light Career Center in Indianapolis. He attended Cross Roads United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Senior Citizen Recycling in Noblesville and was an avid golfer, hunter, bowler and square dancer. He also enjoyed softball and had been a Boy Scout Leader.
Survivors include his children, Connie Rice Donald of Franklin, PA, Carl Knupp Myrna of Anderson, Gary Knupp Penny of Franklin, PA, and daughter, Sue Elliott of Chesterfield; brothers, Clarence Knupp of Phoenix, AZ & Charles Knupp Margaret of Texas; fourteen grandchildren, Kimberly Reece Robin, Timothy Rice Linda, Dawn Rene Rice, Louis Rice Karen, Jesse Rice Shelley, Tracy Peterson Adam, Todd Knupp Desiree, Greg Knupp Christine, James Knupp Melinda, Deanna Heath Dave, Jeff Gegogeine Julie, Janet Gegogeine, Jennifer Gegogeine, and Jeremy Gegogeine Rachel; eighteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet McChesney Knupp; second wife, Mary Kathleen “Kaye” Sanders Knupp; parents, Charles & Myrtle Wood Knupp; son, James Knupp; brothers, Everett Knupp, Norris Knupp & Lyle Knupp; sisters, Inez Jackson, Lelah Hubbard, & Greta Palmer; and grandsons, Scott C. Knupp & Thomas C. Knupp.
