Gilbert Hawley Wright died peacefully in Boise, ID on December 4, 2017 at the age of 77.
Gilbert is survived by his sisters Molly Wright, of Meridian, ID & Sara Belton of Boise, ID; his son Kipp Wright of Orofino, ID; daughters Rachel Renz of Boise, ID & Teresa Wright of Portland, OR, along with a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father Claude Gilbert Wright, his mother Genevieve Wright and his brother Bradley Wright, all of Boise, ID.
Gilbert was born on July 26, 1940 in Idaho Falls, ID. He was a proud Teamster who drove truck and operated heavy machinery for the majority of his career. After more than 40 years he honorably retired. He was a reliable, hard worker who loved to be the best he could be at his job. Gilbert graduated from Boise State University with an Associate’s Degree in Art and later with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology. He was a serious car enthusiast; during his life he built and raced many cars including early 60’s Chevy Biscaynes. And since he loved the whine of a turbo diesel, he always owned at least one Chevy or Dodge truck. In his later years he enjoyed his Lionel “O” Gauge trains which he started collecting from the time he was a boy.
Gilbert was a devoted father who never missed a school program. He was happiest when with his children or hearing about their achievements and adventures. Gilbert provided for his children, ensuring they had the skills needed to be successful adults. “Dad” or “Daddy” as his kids lovingly referred to him and “Gib”, as his friends called him, will most certainly be missed.
