Gilbert Eugene McQueen, 77, of Commerce City, passed away October 14, 2012 at his home. He was born in Hanover, CO on February 18, 1935 to Harry and Martha (Skinner) McQueen. He graduated from Calhan High School and joined the US Army where he served for almost six years. He continued his education at the University of Colorado where he studied Engineering. Gilbert married Martha Orndoff on November 28, 1958 in Ft. Momonth, VA.
Gilbert worked as a Union Carpenter building custom homes for several years and then was the owner and operator of Gem Construction, retiring in 1992. He then worked at the Flea Market until 2007. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, camper and loved fly tying and bowling.
He is survived by his children, Linda (Bob) Hogan of Commerce City and Eugene (Angela) McQueen of Brighton; three grandchildren, Jeremiah, Nicholas and Dylan; three great-grandchildren, Faye, Leyden and Rylen. Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his wife, Martha in 2008, both of his parents, brother Bud and his daughter, Doris.
