Gertrude M. Klopf, age 88 of Stockton, IL, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2017, at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. She was born March 24, 1929, in Nora, IL; the daughter of the late Herman and Emma (Tessendorf) Hintz. She graduated from Warren High School in the class of 1947. Gertrude married Floyd J. Klopf on January 1, 1948; he passed on April 23, 1967.

Gertrude was a farmer for seventy years. She was a lifelong member of the Christ Lutheran Church of Stockton. She enjoyed fishing up north, playing cards, and tending her many flower and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed canning, making pies, cooking for a crowd, and cheering at her family’s sporting events. She especially loved her Safe Haven cats.

She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Dennis) Read of Cumberland, MD, Pamela Klopf of Stockton, and Kimberly (Todd) Baber of Stockton; grandchildren, Heather (David) Morgan, Brian (Lauren) Read, and Wyatt & Kamden Baber; great-grandchildren, Chad, Leigha & Derek; brother, Mervin Hintz of Stockton; and sisters-in-law, Eileen Hintz, Marilyn Hintz, and Pat Hintz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd; brothers, Alvin, Clarence, William, Harold, and George; and sisters, Rose, Elizabeth, and Margaret.
