Gertrude J. Layman, 91, of Rolling Prairie, IN, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2007, in LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte, IN.
Gertrude was born in Rolling Prairie on August 17, 1915, to the late John E. and Stella (Wroblewski) Mrozinski, and was a lifelong area resident. On November 15, 1941, as Gertrude J. Mrozinski, she married Clement J. Layman, who preceded her in death on May 29, 1987. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Carrie Mixtacki and Alice Keller.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Alice (Ron) Taddeucci of LaPorte; four grandchildren, John (Shannon) Taddeucci, Steve (Wendy) Taddeucci, Lisa (Michael) Holstine and Teresa (Anthony) Bice; and by two great grandchildren, Michael and Christopher Taddeucci.
Mrs. Layman was the active Sacristan of St. John Kanty Catholic Church in Rolling Prairie and proudly held that position for 76 years. She was a lifelong parishioner of the church, where she also belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society.
