Gerotha “Gerri†Collins Thomas, 89, of 1133 Figsboro Road, Martinsville, VA died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the Blue Ridge Rehab Center, Martinsville, VA. She was born on May 13, 1922 in Mayodan, NC to the late James Walter Collins and Ola May Hampton Collins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cosom “Cosmo†Thomas. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Stone Memorial Christian Church, Collinsville, VA. She retired from Roy Stone Transfer as credit manager in 1987. Surviving are her daughter, Gladys “Toni†Nagy; granddaughter, Nichole “Nikki†Ray Thomas Simonson of Richmond, VA; great-grandchildren, Codi Simonson, Cheyanne Simonson and Dixon Cook all of Richmond, VA; cousins, F. Wray Joyce of Eden, NC and Eddie “Mickey†Joyce of Mayodan, NC; nieces, Petey Jo Condron of W. Paterson, NJ, Ann Beth Barber of South Boston, VA and Karen Whited of Fieldale, VA; nephews, Michael Bohin of Ripon, CA, Richard Thomas of Smith Mountain Lake; several other nieces and nephews and her caregivers, Jerry A. and Bonnie P. Hatchett.
