Germaine E Philippe was born Germaine Serevere Etienne to Sereverer Etienne (deceased) and Franciette Staintil (deceased), on May 16, 1948, in Desdunes, Haiti. She was the oldest of 8 siblings, 4 brothers: Charlemagne Etienne (deceased), Theodore Etienne (deceased), Harold Etienne , Dieu Sauveur Etienne, and 3 sisters: Clair Rose Etienne (deceased), Tatoune Etienne (deceased), Reverna Etienne. As a child, she loved to sew and care for her siblings and younger relatives, Germaine loved to sew so much, especially for the ladies in her life, that she made a career out of it and became a seamstress. On December 11, 1971 she married Joseph Facile Vital Philippe better known as Pastor Facile and had 6 children together Emmanuel (deceased), Emerson (deceased), Emmanuella, Septrisson, Nathalie, and Frantzdy. As a pastor’s wife, this was perfect for her because she loved the church, and would go everyday if she could, and this groomed her into the matriarch and church mother that she was. Germaine was just naturally caring, generous, nurturing, and would go above and beyond for those she loved. However, she was also a strict disciplinarian. She was always ready to throw a celebration for someone for any reason. Germaine and Facile also helped to raise so many nieces, nephews, and younger cousins that their names were officially Mommy and Poppy by all who had the pleasure. She also loved to cook and never played any games in the kitchen. Germaine was one of the few people, that even if she was mad at you, would still make sure that you ate. “You hungry?” “Wap manje?!” and feeding you was always a guaranteed sign that she still loved you, despite what she said. Besides the kids, Mommy leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Darnell Philippe, Willie T Graves, Elijah Philippe, Trevor Bankston, Ziah Carrillo, Zaiden Everett, 2 great grandchildren: Aria Bankston and Cadhan Graves, as well as a wealth of nieces and nephews from both sides of the family, too many to count. The Joseph Family, The Philippe Family, The Pierre Family, The Saintil Family, The Jeudy Family, The Etienne Family, The Letoi Paul Family, and her husband’s side: The Philippe Family, The Vital Family, The Paul Family, The Saint Louis Family, and The Clairmius Family, and best friends that were more like siblings, and so many more in Canada, Boston, Florida, and Haiti. On August 7, 2021 Germaine was diagnosed with Leukemia. It was truly a rapid ordeal, and on August 27, 2021, God called her home. Germaine was one of a kind, and will truly be missed, but know that God and her husband must have come for her because she left with a smile on her face. As a result, we should smile for her too!
