Gerhard was born on the family farm near Staplehurst, NE on November 25, 1914, to Ben and Martha (Schaal) Kamprath. Gus was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Staplehurst, NE. He graduated from St. Paul Lutheran High School at Concordia, MO and attended St. John College for two years in Winfield, KS. Gerhard was united in marriage to Vanita Martens on November 6, 1944 in Concordia, MO. Gus is a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. He retired from International Harvester Company and later worked for the Nebraska District of Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and Stewardship Department of LCMS in St. Louis. Gerhard passed away on March 10, 2012, in Seward, NE at the age of 97 years, 3 months and 14 days. He is survived by his wife, Vanita of Seward, NE; four daughters and their husbands, Martha Boelter of St. Louis, MO, Christine Kamprath and Pastor S. Blake Duncan of Steeleville, IL, Elizabeth and David Werner, Seward, NE, Margaret and Daniel Raguse of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Kathryn Boelter Dimock (Beth), Joshua (Amy) Boelter, John (Sarah) Werner, Jessica (Theron) Jenkins, Michael Werner and Gretchen Rose Raguse; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Louis, Samuel, Saoirse, Vivienne and Kathryn. Gus was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Ruth Werner; brothers and their wives, Edwin and Fern Kamprath, Alfred Kamprath, Carl and Ruth Kamprath; sister and husband, Esther and Chris Vogel.
