Gerasimos D. Apergis (“Mike”) passed from this world on September 2, 2021 at the age of 80.  He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Theoni, his daughter Irene Apergis (Peter Lamson), his son Dennis Apergis, and his granddaughter Theoni Lamson.  He is also survived by his two sisters in Greece, Thisvi and Maria, and many nieces and nephews.

Born in Agonas, on the island of Kefalonia, Greece, on June 4, 1941, Mike was the youngest of eight children.  As a child and teenager, Mike enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid Greek Scout winning many national awards and achieving the highest level in the Scouts of Greece (Proskopon).  After serving two years in the Greek Air Force, he started a business venture in South Africa with his sister Giota.   In 1967, Mike immigrated to the USA to be with his older brother Anthony.  He worked tirelessly at the Columbine Steakhouse for nine years until he was able to start his own business and become co-owner of the Breakfast King for 42 years and the Rosemary Cafe for 30 years.

Mike was genuinely open-hearted, generous and loving.  A popular and gregarious man, he accepted people as they were and never looked for faults in anyone.  He was deeply loved by his family, friends, and co-workers.  He put a smile on everyone’s face who met him.  Mike loved to talk with his customers about his two favorite topics “Greek History” and his family.  His warmth and loving embrace will be missed by all.
