VICKERY, Geraldine M. Of Portage, Michigan Geri passed away Saturday morning, April 18th in Portage MI. She has been reunited with her recently departed husband of 63 years, Albert E. Vickery, who passed away on February 25th, 2009. Their love affair continues in heaven. Geri was born April 21st, 1926 in Fond du Lac, WI, the older of two daughters of Lester and Irene Haessly. On August 9th, 1945, Geri was married to Albert Vickery in Fond du Lac. From that day on Geri devoted her life to her family and supporting her husband. Geri’s calling in life was as a Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother.
Her love for and devotion to her family was an extension of her love for Al and was apparent to everyone who knew her. Geri lived her life with an uncommon gracefulness, a love of God and family and a willingness to help others. Geri was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She worked in the catalog department at Sears. In retirement she volunteered at Loaves and Fishes and the Cancer Society Discovery Shop. Surviving are her 4 children, Barbara Larry Archer of Plano, TX, Deborah Davor Novosel of Columbia, MO, David Lynette Vickery of Grand Rapids, and Mark Julie Vickery of Portage; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and her sister Joyce Gaffey of Beloit WI. Preceding her in death were, the love of her life, Al Vickery, her parents, Lester and Irene Haessly; and 1 grandson, Ivan Novosel.
