Geraldine “Gerry” McCloskey Cunningham, Of Newnan, Georgia passed away Thursday September 22, 2016 at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.
Geraldine was the inspiration for Geraldine’s Cheese Straws, today a nationally recognized brand. She was born in 1927 to James and Emma McCloskey, one of eight children, Oakes, ND.
Gerry was the beloved wife of husband Holmes Cunningham of Newnan Ga. Beloved Mother to, Bob Cunningham; Cathy Cunningham Hays, Mark Cunningham and wife Patty; Craig Cunningham and wife Jill. Grandmother to Courtney Adang, Rob Cunningham, Jackson Hays, Lindsey Hays Smith; Brooks and Kelly Cunningham, Great Grand Children, Julie Adang and Evelyn Smith (Evie). Affectional know by her grandkids and “Nana” and Memaw.At 40 years old, she began her college career and achieved a Masters of Education degree from West Georgia College, served as a Media Specialist for 20 year in Coweta County. Retired in 1984.
Gerry was a loving homemaker, who delighted in serving her family and friends Southern Home Cooking. She knew her way around a skillet. Gerry was also a compassionate, proficient Bridge player, and she enjoyed playing weekly with her dear friends.
