Geraldine (Marchesi) “Gerry” Vicini, 85, of Peru, passed away, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Illinois Valley Community Hospital. Mrs. Vicini was born April 29, 1932 in Spring Valley to Joseph and Helen (Guerrini) Marchesi.
She married Fred J. Vicini, Jr. on August 28, 1954 at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in LaSalle. He passed away June 28, 1969. She graduated from L-P Township High School in 1950 and graduated from Rosary College (Dominican University) in River Forest, IL 1954.
She taught at St. Patrick’s Grade School in LaSalle and then was a teacher at Peru Washington Junior High School until retirement. She was a former member of the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in LaSalle and the churches altar and rosary society and was a current member of St. Joseph’s Church in Peru.
She was also a member of Illinois Valley Review Book Club, LaSalle County Retired Teachers Association and the IEA/NEA.Gerry was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan all of her life.She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Steve) Parker of LaSalle, Beth (Kurt) Kimes of Ottawa and Michael (Jacque) J. Vicini of Minooka.; 9 grandchildren, Sarah (Trey) Evans, Samantha (Gene) Foster, Kallie Parker, Joseph (Mackenzie) Kimes, Katie (Cody) Lettau, Mark Chellino, Todd Chellino, Jessica Vicini and Nathan Vicini; 4 great-grandchildren, Bryce and Brynn Foster and Kashton Evans and Zuzu Evans; one sister, Janice Marchesi of LaSalle; and two sisters in-law, Lois Drackley of Ottawa and Judi (Jim) McCarrens of Ottawa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Fred; one brother, Louis Marchesi.Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
