Geraldine “Gerry” S. Jelinek, 93, of Sarasota, Florida and formerly of Lakeside, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011. Gerry was born September 21, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois to Josef and Bessie Sobotka. In 1946 she married Ernest E Jelinek, they made their home in Lakeside, Michigan most of their married years.
Gerry taught school in Illinois for one year, then taught in the New Buffalo Public School System until her retirement. She held a Masters Degree in Education from Michigan State University.In addition to her devoted husband of 65 years, Ernie, she is survived by six nephews and nieces and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Libby Sobotka.
Gerry will always be remembered fondly by her family who loved her very much.Cremation has taken place.
