Geraldine “Gerry” Dye Carlisle passed away at Piedmont Hospital Atlanta, Georgia on July 26,2012. She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur Lee and Winnie Mitchell Dye, brothers Garnet Dye of Alexandria, Virginia, Jack Dye of Newnan, Kermit Dye of Dahlonega, Georgia and a sister Dorothy Parsons of Clayton, Georgia. Geraldine was the last of eight children born to Arthur and Winnie Dye on July 31, 1926 in Helen, Georgia. Her family moved to Newnan around 1932 where she attended Newnan city schools and graduated from Newnan High School in 1945. She began working at Dunaway Cleaners in Newnan as a bookkeeper until her marriage to James “Jimmy” A. Carlisle on November 16, 1947. Jimmy and Geraldine owned and operated Carlisle’s Texaco Station on East Broad Street and later Carlisle Texaco and Wrecker Service on Bullsboro Drive from 1953 until their retirement in 1987. Geraldine was passionate about her family, loving and devoted, always putting others before herself. After Jimmy suffered a heart attack in 1991 she became his devoted caregiver until his death in 2010. She was the unwavering caregiver to her youngest child David until her recent illness. She is survived by her children Wayne Carlisle (Luann), Jenny Carlisle, Toney (Stanley), Susan Carlisle Shelnutt (Howard) and David Carlisle, all of Newnan, brother Arthur Hugh (Buster) Dye of Newnan, sisters Iris Smith of Newnan and Naydine Johnson (Ed) of Gainesville, Georgia, grandchildren Christy Alvarado (Mark) of Sharpsburg, Chris Carlisle of Atlanta, Katie Carlisle of Seattle Washington, Jason Dewberry (Sara) of Newnan, Robert Carlisle of Honolulu, Hawaii, Conner Toney of Newnan, as well as great-grandchildren Lauren Robards of Newnan, Mason Dewberry of Santa Rosa, Florida, Nathan and Sallie Dewberry of Newnan, Georgia.
