Gerald P. Koehler, 81, of Bethlehem, passed away, Wednesday, July 16, 2014 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Elizabeth H. (Latsch) Koehler. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in June. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Forrest and Mary (Ritter) Koehler. Gerald graduated from Bethlehem High School where he was a member of the wrestling team and played baseball. He worked for Deiter Brothers Fuel Company for 16 years until retiring in 1994 and previously worked for Fritch Fuel and Brandt Heating and Air Conditioning of Bethlehem. Gerald was a member of St. Thomas UCC in Bethlehem and was a generous supporter of his church and Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Survivors: his loving wife, Elizabeth and daughters, Deborah A. Ferenchak and her husband, Joe of Bethlehem and Patricia M. Koehler of Lower Nazareth; a son, Michael G. Koehler and his wife, Terry of Bath; a brother, Richard D. Koehler and his wife, Linda of Bethlehem; 6 grandchildren, Jarad Haupt, Justin Haupt, Kelly Burkhart, Preston, Emily and Ben Koehler; 6 great-grandchildren, Mason, Elizabeth, Logan, James, Haylee and Cooper. Gerald was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Haupt in 2001 and an infant son and brothers, Donald, Elwood and Ronald Koehler also died earlier.
