Gerald M. Finn, 95, of rural Virginia, IL died Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.

He was born August 7, 1919 in McIntosh, SD, the son of Robert and Charlotte “Lottie” Puckett Finn. He married Mary Ellen Trenter on May 31, 1945 at St. Luke’s Church in Virginia and she preceded him in death on April 18, 2003.

He is survived by five children, Kathleen Lage-Meeks (husband, Dennis) of Bloomington, Michael Finn (companion, Jenny Earl) of Virginia, Patricia Vincent (husband, Tim) of Troy, David Finn (wife, Gina) of Lucas, TX, and Stephen Finn (wife, Gina) of Lucas, TX; six grandchildren, Michelle Richardson (husband, Paul) of LeRoy and Danny, Luke, Hayden, Samuel and Ryan Finn, all of Lucas, TX; two step grandchildren, Kevin Meeks (wife, Raquel) of Pearsall, TX and Greg Meeks of Bloomington; two great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and Jenny’s daughter, Stephanie Parlier (husband, Andy) of Jacksonville and their children, Addisen and Hannah Parlier.

Gerald was preceded in death by two sisters, Alvenia Sinclair and Mary Decker Cox (surviving husband, John of Virginia); a brother, Leo Finn (surviving wife, Helen of Virginia); and two brothers and a sister in childhood.

Gerald was a graduate of Chandlerville High School and served with the US Army during WW II. He was a long time grain and livestock farmer in Cass County. In addition, he served as an auctioneer for 47 years and, upon his retirement, he was the oldest practicing auctioneer in Illinois. He was a member of St. Luke’s Parish in Virginia. He enjoyed square dancing, collecting antiques, and never met a stranger his entire life.
