Gerald L. “Gerry” Cornell, 45, of Bristol, passed away peacefully of natural causes Tuesday, Feb. 16.
He was born in South Bend on Dec. 17, 1970, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Mary Jo) Cornell Sr., who reside there currently.
Surviving are his fiancée Shelly Lynch of Bristol; daughters Lisa (Coty Hickman) Cornell of Goshen, Amanda Buck of South Bend, Chelsey (Fred Gallay) Lynch of Bristol, Courtney (Mike McCord) Lynch of Fort Wayne and Caley Lynch of Elkhart; sons Zachary Cornell of Bristol and Hunter Cornell of South Bend; sisters Barbie (Adrian) Benavides of Noblesville and Jackie (Jay White) Cornell of Cape Coral, Fla.; brothers Robert (Michele) Cornell Jr. of South Bend, Jeffrey (Dawn) Cornell of Niles, Mich., and Korbett Koselak of Mishawaka; grandchildren Autumn Gallay and Zyler Hickman; and his nieces and nephews, Robert III, David, Nathan, Wheezy, Mateo, Jeffrey Jr., Emmika, Tye and Amiyah.
He was preceded in death by siblings Greg and Tina Marie Cornell.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Gerry’s life from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart. Cremation will take place following the viewing.
Gerry worked many years at Medix of Elkhart but was employed at Duo Form Plastics of Edwardsburg, Mich., at the time of his passing. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing on many different leagues throughout the years. He was also a die-hard and loyal Domer who loved his Fighting Irish, as well as the Chicago White Sox and Miami Dolphins. He was a loving fiancé, father, grandfather, brother, son and uncle, who always enjoyed watching his children’s sporting events and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
