Gerald (Jerry, JP, and for a few short hours–Super Toga that one 4-H Camp) Edwin Prewett passed away November 14, 2018, after a lengthy battle with his lungs.  He was born September 25, 1946 in Hermosa Beach, CA.  He graduated from Mt. Diablo High School in 1964.  He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a mechanic.  Jerry was a dedicated, hard-working, and insightful software programmer for most of his working years (his kids always wanted to blame “the computer” while D.O.D said it was “operator error”).  He also managed and tended bar at the Elks Lodge #218, where he was a member for 13 years.  He was affectionately called JP by many friends and most of the members there, and always had a kind and ready smile for everyone.  He loved regaling others with escapades he and cousins shared on the Prewett Ranch.  He enjoyed watching and playing baseball, broomball for a bit, fishing, and developed a lifelong love affair with golf.  He played whenever he was able and enjoyed many tournaments over the years, Thankfully, his kids grew up, and he was able to find more adept caddies who wouldn’t “accidentally” hand him or his buddies the wrong club.  He chaperoned our adventures (embarking on several of his own while in attendance) at 4-H camp several years.  He was able to travel to Mexico and Hawaii on a number of occasions creating special memories with his good friend Ed Gladys, Vikki, and other friends.  We shared some memorable conversations with family and friends in the last few days.  He shared that he wished for his friends and loved ones to be happy, healthy, and well.  He also hoped he would come back as a better golfer!  Being a Prewett, through and through, one might imagine, his kitchen never lacked Best Foods Mayo, ice cream, asparagus, brussel sprouts, nor some crucial implements for eating Dungeness crab.  His quick wit and sparkling eyes will be dearly missed!  Jerry is survived by: his partner and best friend Vikki Goodman, his brother, Everett Prewett (Linda), his daughter, Cicely Prewett (Chad), his three grandchildren, Henry, Arthur and Maryly, and his son Christopher Prewett (Miki).
