Palmyra: Jerry passed away on April 10, 2018 at age 84.  He was born in Palmyra, NY to Charles and Marjorie Spanganberg.  Jerry was predeceased by his first wife, ShirleyVerPlank. Jerry and Shirley owned the Yellow Mills Diner in the 1960s and 1970s. They were the first restaurant in Palmyra to serve pizza. After selling the restaurant, Jerry worked for Stromberg-Carlson in data processing until the company moved out of Rochester.  From there he worked 17 years for the Pittsford Central School District in their maintenance division painting
all the schools, “at least twice” as he would say.  After his 1st retirement, Jerry continued to work another 14 years in the Newark Wegmans, performing various needs as building displays, painting and wallpaper hanging.  Jerry loved to talk to anybody about anything and these jobs allowed him to do just that.

In his free time, Jerry enjoyed carpentry and woodworking.  In addition to building two of his homes, he was always remodeling his own house or other people’s houses.  He also enjoyed being outside in the yard tending planting beds or just mowing the lawn. Jerry belonged to the Masonic Lodge and served as an Elder at the Western Presbyterian Church.  He was an avid NASCAR fan and was able to go the Daytona 500.  He also rooted for the New York Yankees and New York Knicks.
