Gerald D. Thomas, 82, of Three Oaks, Michigan died Sunday morning, January 25, 2015 at Pine Ridge in Stevensville, Michigan. Jerry was born May 6, 1932 in South Bend, Indiana to Adolph and Hannah (Kutz) Thomas. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School and on November 4, 1951 he married Esther Martin in Benton Harbor. Jerry was employed as a meat cutter since high school and worked for Hardings Market in Baroda for years, cutting meat and interacting with the customers.
He was a member of the Three Oaks United Methodist Church where he helped out however he could. Jerry enjoyed working in his yard and collecting things that interested him. He picked up rocks from places he visited which he used in his landscaping or polished for display.
Survivors include his wife, Esther; children, David (Gloria) Thomas of Three Oaks: Debbie Thomas of Three Oaks; Jeanie (Bruce) Hauch of Sawyer, Michigan; Cheryl Thomas of Three Oaks; Roger (Karen) Thomas of South Bend; Gerald (Fawn) Thomas of Elkhart, Indiana; Mark Thomas of Three Oaks and Dawn Cooney of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren, Heather, Dyane, Ryan, Justin, Jodie, Brad, Jill, Angela, Kimberly, Daryl, Jennifer, Tom, Michelle, Matthew, Rob, Stan, Michelle, Joshua, Marcus, Marissa and Jay, 25 great-grandchildren, and brother Richard (Nell) Thomas of South Bend.
He was preceded in death by his son Paul; sisters Marian and Ruth, and brothers, Art, Erv, Fred and Clarence.
