Gerald, age 87, passed away at the Jasper County Hospital Emergency room December 30, 2008.
He was born March 23, 1921 in Jasper County, the son of the late Firman D. and Flossie (Wiseman) Pettet. He graduated from Wheatfield High School. On February 23, 1946, in Lowell, IN Gerald married Helen Hoeferlin. They lived in Barkley Township for 4 1/2 years, moving in 1951 to their farm near Goodland where Gerald farmed until his retirement. He attended the Victorious Life Assembly of God Church in Goodland and was a member of the Remington American Legion. Gerald served in the U.S. Army and was a Prisoner of War during World War II. Along with his loving wife, Helen, he is survived by two sons, Ronald (Karen) Pettet of Logansport and David (Mindy) Pettet of Brook, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a sister, Phyllis Ellis of Delphi.
He was preceded by his parents, a son, Donald R. Pettet on September 4, 2001, and one brother and one sister.
