Gerald Abraham Arvizu, 60, Boise, passed away peacefully at 8:47 p.m. on Tuesday January 21, 2020 after a long battle with Lymphoma.
Gerry was born in Moorpark, CA on June 4th, 1959 and has called Boise home since 1982. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he first began his journey in the kitchen. He went on to become the top chef at Café Ole and learned to love the language of food. From there, he branched off to work at Sysco for 18 years and finished his career at Core Group Sales with Main Street Marketing. As Gerry would say, he was a provider, not a salesman. He dedicated himself to ensure that his customers had the perfect products to suit their needs. Gerry loved to come home and share with his girls all about the perfect ingredients to complete a recipe, and the perfect containers to put them in.
Gerry was foremost a gracious provider to his family. He sacrificed himself and his needs before others countlessly. He loved to cook for his family and provide them with a meal and entertainment to go along with it. Gerry worked hard to keep his children comfortable and happy. He treasured moments with them the most, from road trips and vacations to simple coffee dates before school, he always made time for his kids.
He was an avid lover of golf and never made an excuse to not see the greens. Rain or shine, snow or hail, you could catch Gerry out on the course and dragging his friends alongside with him. When he set his mind on something, Gerry worked hard to complete it to the fullest possibility. He dedicated a lot of time to perfecting his golf swing and enjoyed every moment. He loved the outdoors, and anything included, camping, fishing, hunting, and finding wild adventures that would make a great story.
Gerry taught us all how to fight hard, even when the odds are against you. He never let his cancer define him. Instead, he fought it head on with determination and strength. He beat the odds of any prognosis that all the doctors gave him. Gerry fought hard for fifteen years, when he was expected to only live five. He is a survivor, and always will be.
He is survived by his son Vincent Gerald Arvizu ;two daughters Emilie Grace Arvizu and Sarah Nicole Arvizu; his mother and step-father Earlene Louis Davis and Donald Davis; his sisters and brother-in-law Valerie Arvizu, Linda and Frank Leone, Karen Arvizu; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and members of his extended family from the Arvizu’s, Cruz’s, and Annin’s.
