SALEM – Georgiana Elena Bailey, age 74, died at 12:47 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Salem Regional Medical Center. She was born on June 18, 1943 in Canton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Cornell and Georgiana (Buta) Monda.
She was formerly employed as the Northeast Ohio Regional Board of Elections Coordinator for the Ohio Secretary of State’s office under Ohio’s current State Senator Sherrod Brown when he served as the Secretary of the State of Ohio. She also served for many years in several positions in the Columbiana County Courthouse. Georgiana was very active in the Democratic Party and served in several positions on the Columbiana County Democratic Party. She remained very active in politics most of her life. She was a 1961 graduate of David Anderson High School in Lisbon and attended Kent State University. She was a member of the St. George’s Romanian Orthodox Church in Canton, Ohio.
Survivors include her husband Robert L. Bailey Sr., whom she married February 22, 1965, a son Rob (Karen) Bailey of Dublin, Ohio; a daughter, Susan Andric of Port St. Lucie, Florida, twin brothers, Cornell Monda Jr. of Whitelake, Michigan and Michael Monda of Brunswick, Ohio; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
