Georgia Lee Coco, 93, of O’Fallon, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, IL. Georgia was born June 18, 1928, in Chicago, IL. After high school, she continued her education by obtaining an Associate’s degree. After working in legal and financial positions, she joined the civil service at Scott AFB for the Military Airlift Command and an Honorary Member of the Military Police. A “Daughter of Union Veterans of the Civil War”, Georgia was also a member of O’Fallon First United Methodist Church, O’Fallon Women’s Club, O’Fallon Public Library Board of Trustees, and Friends of the Library. Georgia will be missed by those she loved. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; Virgil Thomas and Elsie (nee Yehling) Smiley, one brother; Jack Smiley, and one sister; Doris Nees.
Surviving is her two children; Karen L. Morgan and Thomas M. Coco of Affton, MO, one sister; JoAnn Creason of Princeton, IL, one brother; Thomas (Jan) Smiley of Henderson, NV, five grandchildren; Andrea Hitsman, Alexandra Hitsman, Anthony Coco, Sasha Coco, and Mario Meyers, and five great-grandchildren; Jude Ryan, Graeme Ryan, Emery Moore, Eden Coco, and Imogen Abernathy.
