Georgia “Jo” McCoy, 77, passed away at her home on November 25, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on May 19, 1937 to Averon H. “Dick” and Edith Lucille (Armstrong) Ray in Grand Junction, CO. Georgia graduated high school in Montrose, CO. She was married to Edgar Lee Harmeyer in 1955; and they had two children. He preceded her in death. Georgia married Donald H. Scharf in Montrose, CO, and he also preceded her in death. Georgia then married Roy Lee McCoy in Denver, CO. Georgia, or “Jo” as she liked to be called, had many callings in life. Rancher, farmer, librarian, moving and storage packer, clerk, and newspaper delivery, but most of all her love and focus was on her precious children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Jo loved bowling. She encouraged her children in this hobby and bowled on leagues with them. She also loved looking for that great bargain at yard sales and auctions. She was an avid Bronco and Rockies fan, attending games with her sister. Jo is survived by her children, Cinda (Al) Fortune and Joel (Michelle) McCoy both of Canon City; grandchildren, Timothy (Arianne) Copper of Casper, WY, Adam (Laura) Copper of Canon City, Mike Suavia-McCoy of Colorado Springs, and Nicole McCoy, Zachary McCoy, and Aaron McCoy all of Canon City; step-grandchildren, Scott (Stephanie) Fortune, and Shellee Fortune both of Colorado Springs; and great grandchildren, Orion, Arabella, and Rhone of Casper, WY, Alyssa, Kirsten, Madison, Ryan, Kellen, Andrew, and Nicholas of Colorado Springs, and Logan, Alex, Levi II of Canon City. She is also survived by her sisters, Dixie (Stan) Myers of Denver, CO, Donna (Tom) Maynard of Parker, CO, and Carolyn (Van) Rathbun of Leveland, TX; loving sister-in-law, Phyllis Ray of Grand Junction, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews she loved dearly. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Stanley D. Ray, Charles “Chuck” Earnest Ray, and Gerald “Jerry” Ray.
