Georgia Ernestine Johnson, 75, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on July 16, 2016. Georgia was born to Walter and Bess Fourier on March 17, 1941 on the prairie in Sweetwater, Oklahoma. She left her family farm for Oklahoma City to study cosmetology. While there, she met her husband, Fred Johnson, at a church party. They married on December 12, 1964, and moved to Falls Church, Virginia immediately thereafter, where Fred pursued his career with the Federal Aviation Administration and then as a Captain for Eastern Airlines. While raising three kids, Georgia went back to school at George Mason University, and earned a degree in psychology. She then obtained her teaching certification and was an English teacher at Rocky Run Middle School in Fairfax County Public Schools until her retirement. Georgia and her kids returned to the farm in Oklahoma every summer to spend time with her siblings and extended family while also helping her father bale hay, feed cattle, and tend to the house. She loved late nights there with her sisters, telling stories about their childhood and their families. Her curiosity about family history led her to research her ancestry in detail, and she also wrote poetry and stories about her parents, grandparents, and others. Georgia’s joy was her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Ann Spencer. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Fred Johnson; her children Kathleen Levine, Julie Grace, and Eric Johnson; her grandchildren Hudson Grace, Ryan Levine, Jordan Grace, Ethan Levine, Dylan Grace, Christopher Johnson, and Anna Johnson; her siblings Kenneth Fourier, Alberta LeGrand, Loretta Killingsworth, Sharon Loyd, and Gail Prather; and many nieces and nephews.
