Georgette Atkins of Bonita Springs, Florida passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Baya Pointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.
Mrs. Atkins moved to Bonita Springs, March 1, 1959 from Higganum and Meriden, Connecticut. She worked for the Lee County School Board for 31 years. She has lived in Lake City for the past two years. She was a charter member of the Sunshine Shufflers Square and Round Dance Club in Naples from January 1960 until January 1998. She was also a charter member of the Twilight Twirlers Square Dance Club in Bonita Springs and the Kriss Kross Squares in Fort Myers, as well as the A-2 Motivators Square Dance Club in Bonita Springs. She also managed and coached Little League, Babe Ruth Team, Girls Softball and Men’s Softball for 32 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, B.J. Atkins; daughter, Georgette Johnson & grandson, Douglas Sherman.
Survivors include her sons, R. Pete (Janet) Mazzocchi of Lake City, FL and Michael (Cathy) Mazzocchi of Lorida, FL; most significant other, Johnny Anderson of Lake City, FL; 7 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren also survive.
