George W. Singiser Esq, 89

Brunswick George W. Singiser Esq, 89, of Skyline Drive Brunswick, prominent area attorney, died Friday, January 28, 2005 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a brief illness.

Born in Rangoon, Burma, he was the son of the late Rev. Frank King Singiser and Linda (Cooper) Singiser and husband for 60 years in September of Amy Reynolds Singiser.

His father was a Baptist minister and his father and mother were missionaries and traveled all over the world. George was born in Rangoon, Burma while they were stationed there. and was educated at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania class of 1937 and Harvard Law School in Boston class of 1940.

George was a general practice attorney since 1940 beginning in the law firm of Murphy, Aldrich, Guy and Broderick in Troy and was later associated with Clark Cipperly. He started his own firm in Troy in the late 40’s, located in the Burdett Building, Canon Building, on Second Stree, the Ilium Building and lastly on 1 First Street. He has been associated with attorney’s Jack Spain, Bill Doyle, his son David Singiser, Judge Spain and most recently, Richard Ceresia, Ed Malone and Fred Kirwin.

He was an Honorary Trustee of the Rensselaer County Historical Society and was the attorney for the society and President from 1972-74, a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Troy and a Deacon and Trustee, a lifetime member of the Center Brunswick Fire Company and a volunteer for the Community Chest. Professionally, he was a member of the American, New York State and Rensselaer County Bar Associations and was awarded a 50 year award in 1991 from the NYS Bar. He was a Army Air Force veteran of World War II and was a devoted Red Sox fan.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his daughter, Mary C. Singiser of Brunswick; his son, David R. Singiser; two daughters-in-law, Janice Joyce of Albany and Deborah Clickner of Barrington, RI; his beloved grandchildren, Mark D. Singiser and Lauren B. Clickner and several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews who were devoted to their uncle. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Dr. James Singiser and a sister, Marian VanSantvoord.
