George S. Sarros, age 87, of Schererville, IN, died peacefully at home on Thursday, February 5, 2015 after a wonderful life. He loved and was much loved by his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marlene C. Sarros, nee Arens; seven devoted children, all Purdue graduates, Linda Sarros, Barbara (Ray) Adams, Polly (Frank) Malloy, Steven (Amy) Sarros, Nicholas (Beth) Sarros, David (Melanie) Sarros, and Mark (Kim) Sarros; 22 affectionate grandchildren: Lauren (Ryan) Maus, Peter Clarke, Logan, Danielle and Luke Malloy, Caroline (Justin) Colley, RuthMarie, Alexander, Emily and William Sarros, Anthony and Meg Sarros, Drew, Lily, Noah, Owen and Nina Sarros, Alexandra, Valerie, Nathan, Meghan and Christian Sarros; two great- grandchildren: Tess and Ben Colley, his sister Tena Sarros and many much loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents: Spyros and Alexandria Sarros and siblings: Sophie (late Tom) Chintis, Katherine (late Charles) Oltz, and John (Betty) Sarros. George graduated from Thornton Fractional High School, where he excelled at football. He enlisted in the Marines and proudly served his country in Korea.

He was a mason contractor, a Rotarian, and a member of St Michael”s Parish, but his proudest accomplishment was his family who will miss him dearly. George was a huge fan of any sports team or band for which his children or grandchildren played. He joyfully attended innumerable games and concerts. He was a cofounder of the Lake Central Athletic Booster “Wahoo” Club and enjoyed volunteering with the Schererville Chamber of Commerce, especially for the annual Corn Roast.
