George P. Hoffman, age 68, of Rome, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2014 with his loving family by his side.
George was born on July 8, 1945 in Camden, New Jersey, to the late Howard and Florence Grey Hoffman. He attended school in New Jersey. George proudly served his country as a member in the United States Air Force from 1963-1971. After his honorable medical discharge from the Air Force, George stayed at home to take care of his family. On September 30, 1967, in Taberg, he married the former Leslie Walter.
George’s greatest love in life was his children and grandchildren. He played the role of mister mom for his grandchildren, showering them with gifts and love. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
George is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Leslie; two daughters and a son in law, Kelly Hoffman of Whitesboro, and Karen and Tom Netzband of Verona; four grandchildren, Samantha, George, Ryan and Dakota; two brothers and sisters in law, Howard S. and Priscilla Hoffman of Glendora, NJ, and Benjamin and Joan Hoffman of Magnoli, NJ; an “adopted grandson” Matthew Scott Kopec, and a “special daughter,” Jodi Babcock. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Jane Hoffman and a brother Richard R. Hoffman.
