George P. Kennedy, 88, of Upton, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. He was the husband of Nancy E.

Mr. Kennedy was born in Dedham on July 6, 1924, the son of the late Alexander and Agnes (Miller) Kennedy. He had lived in Upton since his youth and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He worked as a machinist at several area firms, retiring in 1988 from EPI of Westborough. He also operated a printing business, Kennedy Press, out of his home since 1960.

A charter member, life member, past commander, treasurer, and adjutant of the George L. Wood VFW Post #5594, he was also a longtime member of the Upton Historical Society. He was instrumental in the production of Upton’s Pictorial History book and was co-founder of the Upton Telephone Directory.

In addition to his wife of 66 years, he leaves two sons, Richard P. Kennedy and David B. Kennedy and his wife Debbie, and a grandson, Scott Kennedy, all of Upton; a sister, Jessie Prentice of Worcester; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph A. W. Kennedy.
