George Murray entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at the age of 62. He was born on November 29, 1958, in Pineville, Louisiana, to Jerome Murray Sr. and Margaret (Dupas) Murray. He was the fifth of eleven children. He will forever be remembered as a faithful and loving son, brother, and uncle.
After graduating from Mansura High School, George worked in Houston, Texas, for a while and later moved back home to work in the oil field and at the Valve Plant in Mansura, Louisiana. During his early days, George was famously called “Maestro” because he resembled the great singer, Barry White. He even sported a fierce Jheri Curl. He was an outgoing individual who knew how to enjoy himself.
George’s life was irrevocably altered when a Marksville sanitation truck plowed into his vehicle. Although this accident changed George, he continued living life to its fullest. He was a kind, gentle man who was always willing to help those in need. George continued living with his parents in Mansura, Louisiana.
George is preceded in death by his father, Jerome Murray, Sr.; mother, Margaret (Dupas) Murray; and sister, Brenda Metz (Mike).
Those left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Jerome Murray, Jr. (Deloris), Bernard Murray (Marshell), Andrew Murray (Stephanie), and Ronald Murray, Sr. (Tritonya); sisters, Cheryl Nicholas (Larry), Dianne Murray, Linda Newman (Don), Cindy Murray, and Melissa Zenon (Willie II); a host of nieces and nephews; and his aunts, Barbara Jackson, Madeline White, Rosalie D. Clark, Bernice Dupas, and Mary Ruth Prier.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” George has transitioned from this life to his eternal life in heaven with God our Father. He has left all earthly troubles behind.
