George M. Krause, 95, of Manchester, beloved husband of Dorothy (Fanska) Krause, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2016. Born on June 18, 1920 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Schuetz) Krause. He was a graduate of Manchester High School and a proud U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II. He was the owner of the former Krause Florist on Hartford Rd., in Manchester, having worked there until he closed his business in 2001. He was a member of the Manchester Rotary Club. In the 1950’s and 1960’s he worked for many summers as a lifeguard at Globe Hollow swimming pool, where he taught Red Cross Lifesaving skills to many Manchester residents. A loving husband, father and grandfather he will be dearly missed by his devoted wife of 65 years, Dorothy, three daughters, Kathy Vallera and husband Joseph of Andover, MA., Carol Bond and husband Robert of St. James, NY., and Cynthia Yaeger and husband Douglas of Manchester, six grandchildren, Darryl Bond and his wife Candie of Stamford, CT., Bradley Bond and his companion Amy Newman of Astoria, NY., Kirsten Bond of St. James, NY, Jeffrey Vallera and his fiancé Brigid Crean of Tewksbury, MA. Lisa Vallera and her fiancé David Koczak of Wallingford and Tiffany Knoblauch of East Hartford. George is also survived by his sister Violet Krause and her husband John of Unionville, CT., as well as seven nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his infant son David. George’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Brookdale Buckingham in Glastonbury as well as the doctors, nurses and staff at Manchester Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care.
