George Louis Garramone, 81, of Arvada passed away on July 22, 2021 at Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge. Born on May 2, 1940 in Denver, Colorado he was the son of Louis and Helen Garramone. George married Barbara (Mauro) on August 18, 1962 and together they shared 59 years of marriage.
George attended North High school, graduating in 1958.
He was in the Marine Corp reserve for 8 years. George worked in the family owned greenhouse raising carnations until becoming a firefighter for the Denver Fire Department in 1967. He worked at the Denver Fire Department Training Center training new recruits for 19 years. George was also a firefighter for Arvada Fire Department from 1962-1987.
He enjoyed working in his garden raising various vegetables and was very meticulous about his yard.
George will be remembered for someone you can count on to help in time of need, screaming at the TV when the Broncos or Rockies played poorly, someone who loved teaching his grandkids life skills and fun activities. George could always be seen wearing a t-shirt that had his grandkids’ pictures or their artwork on it.
In addition to his wife Barb, he is survived by his daughter, Dina Stevenson and her husband Dave. His son Gregg Garramone and his wife Marcy. George has 3 grandchildren, Kaycee Stevenson, Destry Stevenson, and Dominic Garramone.
He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Helen Garramone.
