George Kuemmerle

January 12, 1913 – May 16, 2017

Mr. George Kuemmerle, of Bay City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, May 16, 2017 in his residence at Sheffield Bay, at the age of 104. The son of the late Julius Robert and Luise Friederike (Haug) Kuemmerle, he was born on January 12, 1913 in Ohmenhausen, Germany. On October 27, 1951 in Germany, he married the former Elfriede Ochs and together they immigrated to the United States in June of 1953, settling in Bay City. George was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was a carpenter and mason by trade before starting his own construction company. George enjoyed socializing with friends, making wine and was an avid soccer fan.
George is survived by his wife, Elfriede Kuemmerle; their daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Ron Patch and their daughter, Elizabeth Patch and her fiancé, Daniel Tucker; their son and daughter-in-law, Hans and Sofi Kuemmerle and their children, Nicholas and Kaitlyn Kuemmerle and Julio Silva; a great-granddaughter, Avianna Silva; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law in Germany; numerous nieces and nephews both in Germany and the U.S.; and their extended family, Walter and Ann Hagen and their families. George was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers in Germany, as well as his brother and sister-in-law, William and Anna Kuemmerle and a sister and brother-in-law, Johanna and Walter Bielskis all of Bay City.
